Hi Careers Advisers
Welcome to your page of the VET in WSR Wiki page. We as a VET team have been struggling with what to put up on your page that would hopefully be useful in your roles within the schools.
To that end we are going to add mainly links to other web pages that we think might be useful for you. We will try and group them appropriately but sometimes that is very difficult to do. If you have any suggestions for improvement, please email one of the VET team.

Please note that any information / research findings from other sources are not necessarily endorsed by the DEC or by the WSR VET team. These documents are added as thought provokers only.

new7.gifA New Resource

This Resource 'What Degree Which university' is a new web resource written by University students for school students. Some of your students may find it useful. Below is the letter I received regarding this website

Insurance for Yr 10 students

As you are aware if a year 10 student wishes to do work experience during school holiday periods, the normal insurances don't cover them. Parents need to be aware of this and would need to source independent insurance.
To that end I have been directed to the link below.

Please note that neither the WSR VET Team or the VEiS Directorate endorses this insurance product

UWS Resources for Students with a Disability.

The resources, on the web page linked, have been developed to assist students with a disability in their transition planning into UWS

New Bullseye products coming!

DEEWR has recently undertaken a complete review and update of the Bullseye suite of career resources and is now in the process of printing the new versions of the Bullseye products (A4 and A2 posters and books) with more subjects included. The Bullseye occupational titles and training required will reflect the information in The Job Guide.
A new Biographical Bullseye has been created as part of the update: a pack of ten A3 posters featuring a subject Bullseye and photographs with short "career biographies" of two young people who studied that subject and the career pathway they've followed will be available.
The updated products can be obtained from the on-line ordering system from mid-July. The on-line ordering system may be found at http://www.deewr.gov.au/Schooling/CareersandTransitions/CareerDevelopment/Resources/Pages/CareerBullseyeposters.aspx. Scroll to bottom of the page.

Emerging Careers in Health
This link connects to the resources from the 'Emerging Careers in Health' Careers Advisers Workshop held on the 30th May 2011 at Westmead Hospital. The power points have also been saved with an audio link but unfortunately for some presentations the audio is difficult to understand.
Nursing as a Career
This is a great page to direct students who are interested in a career as a nurse or midwife. There are video clips available where nurses are interviewed. The page aslo shows the areas that nurses can specialise in. Very good introduction for students who are interested.
